Nowadays, she is known as TY Bello the photographer. But before she became famous for the camera profession, Bello was popular as a member of the defunct inspirational group, KUSH. Since the group split, Bello has fetched a reputation for herself as the most sought-after celebrity photographer. That however hasn’t stopped the singer in her. Recently, her collaborative effort with gospel singer Tope Alabi, entitled ‘Logan Ti Ode’ went viral. We caught up with the artiste/photographer and spoke about her new found style of music and perhaps, a possible KUSH reunion.

What inspired your collaboration with Tope Alabi?

God. It was spontaneous. The whole session was beautiful. We hardly had conversations in between. The song just came as waterfalls, so effortless.

Did you expect the feedback from your fans?

I was pleasantly surprised. I knew people would love it, but I didn’t know they will love it like that. People took the song very personal because it sounded like their own story. When I heard the song for the first time I cried. I guess everybody had the same response.

You seem to do more of spontaneous music nowadays?

I have been doing spontaneous worship for almost three years. Basically, it’s a new way I have found to make music where I literally take the instruction to sing a song to the Lord. So, teaming up with other artistes is a good way to express that call. I think I have found my new way.

I have always wanted to do it my way and I think spontaneous worship does it for me. It is sincere and effortless. I have found my space.

So, your fans shouldn’t expect more from you?

Never say never. We are going to have a lot of albums coming out from the session. Right now, we may have like 12 albums coming out from that session.

Will this spontaneous worship see members of KUSH reuniting?

I have been thinking of that lately. I think that it is probably going to happen. This might be the perfect platform for us to sing together. In reality, that’s we did when we were still a group. We just sang songs we didn’t know and then it became a real song.

Do you communicate with them very often?

Of course, I do. Though everyone is quite busy with their own career.
