The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has said that the President will address Nigerians today (Monday), contrary to a statement attributed to Aliyu Sani, the national coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19.

Mr. Adesina, who made this known in a tweet on Monday, said no broadcast was planned for Monday evening.

Sani had on Sunday said the president would address the nation on Monday (today) when he appeared on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.

Adesina tweeted, “No presidential broadcast on COVID-19 updates today. None was planned.”

He said the Presidential Task Force would update Nigerians on the next steps during its daily briefings.

“Rather, the Presidential Task Force will during its usual media briefings bring the nation up to speed on the next steps”, Adesina said.

The first phase of the gradual easing of the COVID-19 lockdown comes to an end on Monday evening.
