Nigerians in Diaspora for Good Governance Organisation has called on the Federal Government to safeguard Nigeria’s democracy from individuals and groups seeking to undermine it.

The group’s President, Raymond Edoh, made the call on Tuesday in Abuja during a news conference.

Edoh stated that any attempt to intimidate political parties or institutions, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), amounted to a direct attack on democracy.

“We urge President Bola Tinubu to demonstrate leadership by protecting democratic principles and ensuring fairness,” he said.

He also called on the international community, including the United States Department of States and the United Nations, to support Nigeria in defending its democratic values.

Edoh further stressed the need for the independence of the legislature and judiciary in carrying out their constitutional responsibilities, noting that the survival of democracy depended on their autonomy.

He urged Nigerian youths to remain united in safeguarding the nation’s unity and democratic system.

According to him, their courage inspires hope, while their resolve sends a strong message that democracy must endure.
