The Presidency has alerted the public to a smear campaign in the works against President Buhari and his office by disgruntled political elements in the country.

Mr. Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, stated this in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday.

He said that the disgruntled elements had been shopping for pliant online media that would serve as accomplices in their nefarious act.

According to him, the game plan is to launch orchestrated campaign of calumny in the days ahead, in which the president will be portrayed as not being in charge of the country.

He said already this narrative had started from a procured offshore medium by the instigators.

He said, “Money and other attractive inducements are being dangled before the online media, and some of them are already complicit, cooking up stories with jejune (simplistic) and unsubstantiated allegations, all to sow seeds of discord and discontent in the country.

“Nigerians are urged to be wary and discerning in what they consume as news and special reports from such online media, as they are in cahoots with agents of destabilization, seeking ultimate political gains.’’

Adesina, however, reassured Nigerians that the president would continue to be focused and single-minded in his determination to serve the country to the best of his ability, bringing change to different facets of our national life.

“This is already evident in infrastructure as seen in roads, rail, bridges, airports, and many other strides round the country. Agriculture is another worthy testimonial.

“The fight against corruption, insecurity, and retooling of the economy also proceed apace, and the Buhari Administration will not be distracted, and will continue to serve with heart and might, irrespective of all shenanigans,” he added.

  1. I am not just sure if Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina is still in Nigeria or he has gone to assume his new ambassadorial position because he now write like someone who is not present at the location of the events he’s writing about, and that is dubious and shameful. Adesina just alleged that there are plans in the days ahead, “from a procured offshore medium” to smear Buhari!

Rather than provide facts to counter the details and reporting in the editorial of Financial Times of London on December 22, which itemized shocking insecurity involving kidnappings, killings and maiming in virtually all parts of the country. Are these disastrous and deadly events that cost so many lives real, true and tragic? If they are then let us just declare to this guy: Ichabod, the glory has departed from him because the Lord is not mocked and the Lord will have no part in the falsehoods and lies that Adesina represents.

Horrible opportunists are wont to behave like this, a trait that Adesina, a Christian have in common with Lai Mohammed, a Muslim. Are these men aware of the disaster that is taking place at the Ports in Lagos where more than 500,000 containers are trapped? Manufacturers have goods and raw materials that are now rotting away and will result in increased prices of goods. I am sure the Financial Times of London are to blame for this and it is part of their orchestrated plot. Sometimes we have to just laugh at the stupidity and idiocy these men at the corridor of power. The truth is that these two have no fear of God left in them as they have drunk more than their own fair share of the polluted water that flow from Aso Rock taps and block the conscience of men and women.
