Breaking: Health Minister Confirms Second Case Of Coronavirus In Nigeria

The minister said the patient was a contact in Ogun State of the Italian man who was the first confirmed case.

Ten days after recording the first case of Coronavirus, the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire has confirmed a second case in Nigeria.

Speaking at a media conference held at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital on Monday, Ehanire said the patient was a contact in Ogun State of the Italian man who was the first confirmed case.

Ehanire however said the second victim had been in isolation and was tested because of his contact with the index case.

The minister also said that the driver who conveyed the Italian man to his destination was still under quarantine.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control in a tweet also confirmed the existence of the second case of Coronavirus describing Ogun State as the point of contact between the first and second cases.
