Edo 2020: Oshiomhole’s Faction Nominates Ize-Iyamu

The National Working Committee of the party had earlier in the month agreed that the governorship primaries in both Edo and Ondo states will be held through direct primaries.

A faction of All Progressive Congress in Edo State known to stand with the national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole has thrown its weight behind Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu for the governorship primaries coming up in June

The National Working Committee of the party had earlier in the month agreed that the governorship primaries in both Edo and Ondo states will be held through direct primaries.

The APC chapter in Edo, loyal to Governor Godwin Obaseki had rejected the chosen option of holding direct primaries.

Both Oshiomhole and Obaseki have been at each other’s throats politically for several years.

Ize-Iyamu, a former Secretary to Edo State Government chosen as the consensus candidate of the faction in Abuja on on Tuesday.

He was presented by chairman of the screening committee, Senator Francis Alimikhena, the representative of Edo North Senatorial District.

The screening committee also has as members, Lucky Imasuen, Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe, Thomas Okosun, Samson Osagie, Patrick Obahiagbon and Peter Akpatason.
