After Senator Ademola Adeleke defected from the APC and defeated the candidate of Governor Rauf Aregbesola in the recent senatorial by-election in Osun State, the losing side has wielded long knives of different forms, lengths and sizes very freely. Most of the knives have, of course, been plunged in Aregbesola’s back and it seems the wielders won’t stop twisting the knives until they have Ogbeni for lunch. We gathered that Adeleke’s next move after his victory and unforgettable dance videos could be to aim to succeed Aregbesola next year. The Senate is a stopgap. And Adeleke is getting support, not only from the PDP but also from loads of unhappy APC members in Osun who cannot wait to get the last laugh. With the news from Lagos not very encouraging these days, Ogbeni may need to roll up his sleeves for a protracted endgame.
