Zulum Orders Construction Of New Barracks For Police, Immigration

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno on Tuesday, ordered construction of new barracks for Police and Nigerian Immigration Service in the border town of Ngala in Gamboru/Ngala LGA of the state.

A statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Communications and Strategy, Mallam Isa Gusau , said the governor gave the directive in the course of his three day tour of the area.

The governor also directed the reconstruction of some buildings at the Nigerian Arabic village and a shopping complex to enhance trade.

The governor observed that barracks belonging to the Nigeria police force and the Nigeria immigration service, were beyond repairs.

He directed the Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement to commence processes toward the construction of new barracks for both the Police and Immigration services in Gamboru.

“The governor further directed the Borno State Geographic Information Services (BOGIS) to construct a new shopping complex in the town, asking the Executive Secretary of BOGIS, Mr Adam Bababe to submit a budget for the project.

Zulum also took a tour of structures at the Nigerian Arabic Village, in Ngala town, on the invitation of the tertiary school’s Executive Director, and also directed the commencement of reconstruction works, with a completion deadline of end of 2022.

Zulum promised to look into other challenges faced by the Federal Government owned schools to identify immediate, short, and long term interventions to be done by his administration.

While in the area, Zulum who was accompanied by his predecessor, Senator Kashim Shettima, shared food items and cash to 60,803 returnees.
