Buhari Wants Quick Passage Of 2021 Budget

In his presentation, the president said the allocation to education had been increased by 65 percent while the Second Niger Bridge has reached 46 percent completion.

President Muhammadu Buhari has called for the quick passage of the 2021 budget by the National Assembly.

Speaking on Thursday while presenting the N13trn budget proposal to the lawmekers, Buhari said passing it on time will ensure early implementation from January 2021.

As part of measures to contain the COVID-19 outbreak, the president was accompanied to the National Assembly by only the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo and a handful of ministers.

In his presentation, the president said the allocation to education had been increased by 65 percent while the Second Niger Bridge has reached 46 percent completion.

Personnel cost, he was remained the single largest item on the expenditure list, expressing determination to totally eliminate ghost workers.

Some of the major highlights in the budget include a N128bn allocation made to the National Assembly.

The president also directed that there be more vigilant monitoring of revenue generating agencies of government.
