Edo 2020: Violence Breaks Out As Obaseki Votes

The violence broke out when PDP youth leader attacked attacked one of the APC supporters.

Just as Governor Godwin Obaseki, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) arrived at his polling unit at Emokpae Primary School, Ward 4, Oredo LGA, violence broke out between his supporters and those of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The violence broke out when PDP youth leader attacked attacked one of the APC supporters.

The governor later joined a queue before casting his vote.

Oshiomhole, Ize-Iyamu Vote Early

Meanwhile voting began early in a number of polling units in the 18 Local Government Areas of Edo State governorship elections.

There were reports of high turnout in some polling units, while in others, delays and late arrival of electoral officers were witnessed.

Among early voters was former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adam Oshiomhole, who voted at Polling Unit 001, Ward 10, Iyamho, Etsako LGA.

Also voting early was the governorship candidate of the APC, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who voted at his ward, Polling Unit 026, Ward 5, Iguadodo LG.

Tensions however remain.
