Gunmen Attack Borno Governor’s Convoy

Aides to the governor have confirmed he suffered no harm in the attack which was repelled by soldiers and other security personnel in the convoy.

Gunmen on Wednesday attacked the convoy of Borno Governor Babagana Zulum while on his way to Monguno in Borno State.

The attack took place in the evening between Monguno and Baga, where the governor was to distribute relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons.

Aides to the governor have confirmed he suffered no harm in the attack which was repelled by soldiers and other security personnel in the convoy.

Zulum on Monday travelled to Monguno from Baga to distribution of food to displaced persons in the area.

Plans were on the way to return of some of the IDPs to their homes and villages around the axis when the attack took place.
