Akpabio Appears Before House Committee Probing NDDC

A former acting Managing Director of NDDC, Joi Nunieh-Okunnu, had accused Akpabio of being behind her removal from office and the misappropriation and funds that has consistently dogged the Commission.

The Minister of Niger Delta, Godswill Akpabio, on Monday appeared before the House of Representatives Committee on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), which is probing allegations of mismanagement and fraud at the agency running into tens of billions of naira.

A former acting Managing Director of NDDC, Joi Nunieh-Okunnu, had accused Akpabio of being behind her removal from office and the misappropriation and funds that has consistently dogged the Commission.

The former MD has in recent days engaged in a war of words with the minister and accused him of dictating to the management of the commission how contracts are awarded for his own benefit.

After her removal, an Interim Management Committee was set for the commission and is now accused of mismanaging N81.5ban.

Along with Akpabio but at different time, the acting Managing Director of NDDC, Kemebradikumo Pondei had also before the House Committee.
