The Nigerian minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, has met with the Chinese ambassador to Nigeria over reports of maltreatment of Nigerians in China.
Onyeama, who made this known via his twitter handle, on Friday, said he had met with the Chinese ambassador in Nigeria to communicate Nigerian government’s concern over reports of mistreatment of Nigerians in China.
A twitter user, Oluyemi Fasipe, had reported the maltreatment of Nigerians in China, to Mr. Onyeama, saying “Hello @GeoffreyOnyeama, In case you are not aware, I want to bring to your attention the inhumane conditions Nigerians are being subjected to by China authorities. I have posted some videos earlier and tagged madam @abikedabiri. Here is another one. #ChinaMustExplain”
Reacting to this report, however, the minister said he had had a meeting with Chinese Ambassador in Nigeria to ensure that Chinese government investigated the allegations of maltreatment of Nigerians in Guangzhou, China.
Onyema tweeted, “Invited the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Zhou Pingjian to communicate @NigeriaGov’s extreme concern at allegations of maltreatment of Nigerians in Guangzhou, #China and called for immediate Chinese Govt. intervention.”
