COVID-19: Presidency Accuses Lawmakers For Breeching Airport Security

The presidency has written a letter to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila over the refusal of members of the lower chamber to subject themselves to medical screening at the nation’s airports in the effort to contain the Coronavirus.

Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari in a March 21, 2020 letter said a complaint had been made to the minister of health and also reported to the presidency, how House members were putting the rest of the country at risk.

Kyari said to the speaker, “As you are aware, these airport screenings are our primary line of defense and refusal by any citizen to subject to these test is a threat to the nation.

“Accordingly, you are kindly requested to direct all members of the House of Representatives who returned to Nigeria from foreign trips to report themselves to the nearest NCDC test Centre with immediate effect.”
