President Buhari Appoints Task Force To Tackle Coronavirus

The taskforce which is chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, (SGF) Mr. Boss Mustapha, is to ensure adequate preparation to curtail the possible outbreak and spread of the deadly virus.

President Muhammadu Buhari has established a Presidential Task Force for the Control of the Coronavirus-19 Disease (COVID-19).

Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media & Publicity, Garba Shehu, made this known in a statement on Tuesday.

The taskforce which is chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, (SGF) Mr. Boss Mustapha, is to ensure adequate preparation to curtail the possible outbreak and spread of the deadly virus.

The statement reads in part: “This action is in preparation for the unlikely but probable major outbreak of the disease in the country which will require a multi-sectoral inter-governmental approach as advised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) similar to that adopted for the HIV epidemic in the last two decades.

The task force which is to start and finish work within the next six months has Dr. Sani Aliyu as National Coordinator, Minister of Health, Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola, Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Services, Minister of Education, Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Muhammed, Minister of Environment, Director-General, State Services, Director-General, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and WHO Country Representative.
