Adamawa Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 25-year-old man, Jude Jatau, for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl.
Parading the suspect, the command’s spokesman, DSP Suleiman Yahaya, said the suspect who allegedly committed the act on Monday, March 2, was arrested on Tuesday in Kofare Ward, Yola, where he lured the girl before having carnal knowledge of her.
“Investigation has been concluded, and he will be charged to court,” Yahaya said.
He urged parents and guardians to always keep close watch on the movements of their wards to guard against them falling prey to sex predators.
While answering questions from newsmen the suspect said that the girl had been coming to the house where he works, to pluck fruits and that he took advantage of her three times.
“I used to lure her with fruits of umbrella tree. We only met three times and I seek forgiveness,” he pleaded.
