APC Crisis: Hillard Etta Appointed To Act For Ajimobi

Issa-Onilu also said the party had named Imo State governor as Chairman of the committee for APC governorship primary election which will holdon Monday 22, 2020 in Edo State.

The APC in opposing the application for consolidation of the petition said the interest of justice would not be served.

The All Progressive Congress on Wednesday appointed Prince Hillard Etta to act on behalf of former Oyo State governor, Abiola Ajimobi, as acting National Chairman.

The Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, Victor Giadom had earlier on Wednesday declared himself as the acting National Chairman of the party and cancelled the decision of the Screening and appeal Committees of on the Edo governorship primary election, following a court injunction that upheld the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole as the party’s national chairman.

However, the party in a statement by the its National Publicity Secretary Lanre Issa-Onilu, on Wednesday, said Sen. Abiola Ajimobi remained the Party’s Acting National Chairman, but Prince Hillard Etta would serve in Ajimobi’s capacity since he was unavoidably available.

The statement reads, “The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) rose from a meeting at the Party’s National Secretariat on Wednesday affirming Sen. Abiola Ajimobi as the Party’s Acting National Chairman following the Appeal Court’s ruling affirming the suspension of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as National Chairman and in line with Section 14.2 (iii) of the Party’s Constitution.

“Due to Sen. Ajimobi’s unavoidable absence, NWC unanimously appointed the Party’s National Vice Chairman (South South), Prince Hilliard Etta to act on Sen. Ajimobi’s behalf, an action backed by the Party’s constitution which empowers the NWC to appoint one of its members in acting capacity and stipulates that the acting National chairman must be from the zone of the National Chairman.

Issa-Onilu also said the party had named Imo State governor as Chairman of the committee for APC governorship primary election which will hold on Monday 22, 2020 in Edo State.

“Also, committees for the Party’s Edo State Governorship Primary Election scheduled for Monday 22nd June, 2020 and Election Appeal scheduled for Wednesday 24th June, 2020 were also named by the party,” he said.
