Eid al-Fitr To Hold On Sunday – Sultan

There have not been any reports of sighting of the crescent of a new moon for the month of Shawwal, making Saturday the 30th day of Ramadan.

Sultan of Sokoto and President of Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Sa’ad Abubakar has declared Sunday as the day of Eid al-Fitr.

There have not been any reports of sighting of the crescent of a new moon for the month of Shawwal, making Saturday the 30th day of Ramadan.

The Wazirin Sokoto and Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Prof Sambo Wali Junaidu in a statement on Friday said Sunday would mark the first day of Shawwal and the day of Eid.

He said the council received no report from various Moon Sighting Committees across the country.

He said, “The Sultan felicitates with the Muslim Ummah and wishes them Allah’s guidance and blessings. The Sultan while urging the Muslim Ummah to continue to pray for peace, progress and development of the country.”
