Court Orders Senator Ndume’s Release From Prison

The same court had on Monday remanded the senator in Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja for failing to produce former Chairman, defunct Pension Reformed Task Team, Abdulrashed Maina, who the lawmaker stood for as surety.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the release of Senator Ali Ndume of Borno after granting him bail.

The same court had on Monday remanded the senator in Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja for failing to produce former Chairman, defunct Pension Reformed Task Team, Abdulrashed Maina, who the lawmaker stood for as surety.

Maina is on trial for money laundering and misappropriation of billions of naira in pension funds and is presumed to have jumped bail. His whereabouts is unknown and has failed to appear at his trial since he was granted bail.

Ndume, who stood as surety was subsequently asked to produce Maina in court.

His failure to do so led to the ruling on Monday remanding him in Kuje Correctional Centre.
