Asuquo Ekpeyong is one of the young emerging leaders in the Nigerian political landscape at the state level.
Prior to his appointment as the youngest commissioner of finance in his home state, Cross River, Ekpeyong worked as a lecturer of Banking and Finance, Cross River State University.
His involvement in governance provided him the opportunity to put to work what he has taught over the years in the classroom to solve state finance issues in line with best practices.
How Ekpeyong brought his academic experience to promote transparency, accountability, financial discipline and increase revenue generation in his state, earned him the 2016 Future Awards Africa Prize for Public Service.
His sterling performance, regardless of his age, gives credence to current calls to have more young minds in governance at the national level.
