The biggest demon confronting the Nigerian authorities as they try to tackle smuggling is so daunting; Nigeria doesn’t exactly know how to deal with it. Sources close to the country’s western border informed us that the president of a neighbouring country is the biggest suspect. If the smugglers were small fry using okada or second-hand vehicles along bush paths and bribing their way through Customs, it would still a herculean task to contain the damage they’re doing to the country’s economy.
