CJN Tanko, Wife Contract COVID-19

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Tanko Muhammad has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

Justice Ibrahim Saulawa of the Supreme Court confirmed the positive status of the Chief Justice during the unveiling of the national headquarters of Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria (MULAN) on Tuesday in Abuja.

Sources have confirmed that the wife of the Chief Justice has also tested positive for the coronavirus.

The Chief Justice is said to be receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Rumours swelled on Monday about the health of the CJN after he failed to preside over the swearing-in ceremony of 72 Senior Advocates if Nigeria.

Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour, who is the most senior justice of the Supreme Court, administered oaths to the new SANs.
