Buhari Nominates Former Guardian Editor, Adesina, 41 Others As Ambassadors

In all the president nominated 41 non-career ambassadors and one career ambassador for the Senate to approve.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday nominated a former editor, and later Editor-in-Chief of the Guardian Newspaper, Debo Adesina. as a non-career ambassador.

Also nominated is a former deputy editor of Thisday Newspaper, Oma Djebah.

In all the president nominated 41 non-career ambassadors and one career ambassador for the Senate to approve.

Suleiman Sani representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is the only career ambassador on the list.

In a letter addressed to the Senate, President Buhari listed names of ambassadorial nominees, for confirmation by the Senate.

The letter read by Senate president, Ahmad Lawan, during Wednesday plenary reads, “In accordance to section 171 (1).(2)(C) & sub-section (4) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria an amended, I have the honour to forward for confirmation by the Senate, the underlisted forty-one (41) names of nominees as Non-Career Ambassador-Designate. Copies of their Curriculum Vitae are attached herewith.”
