Obaseki Orders Investigation, Arrest Of UNIBEN Student’s killers

The governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has ordered the police to thoroughly investigate and arrest those involved in the death of Vera Uwaila Omozuwa.

Omozuwa, a 22-year-old 100 level Micro Biology student of the University of Benin ((UNIBEN) was raped and killed in a Redeemed Christian Church Of God (RCCG) church, eliciting a #JusticeForUwa by Nigerians on social media.

Reacting to killing of Omozuwa’s via his twitter handle on Sunday, Obaseki charged the Nigerian police to thoroughly investigate, arrest and prosecute Omozuwa’s killers.

He said, “I have ordered the Nigeria Police Force ( @PoliceNG ) to thoroughly investigate the circumstances that led to the death of Miss Vera Uwaila Omozuwa, a 100-level student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN). #JusticeForUwa

“The @PoliceNG has been mandated to identify, arrest and prosecute anyone found culpable in her death. The Violence Against Persons (VAP) Law is in effect in our state.”

Obaseki added that his government would ensure that whoever was involved in the killing of Omozuwa faced the law.

“Using this law, we would ensure to investigate what exactly transpired and deal decisively with the those found complicit in the dastardly act, whoever they might be. #JusticeForUwa”, he said.
