Despite the COVID-19 lockdown situation across Nigeria, Taraba State has continued to witness ethno-conflicts in the last past two weeks.

One those conflicts left several persons dead and many houses and shops burnt on during the weekend when Tivs and Ichen clashed at Mararaba Baissa in Donga Local government area of the state.

According to reports the crisis erupted between the two rival communities over land dispute and degenerated to violence which got worse on Thursday.

However, the police spokesperson in the state, David Misal, when contacted said that normalcy had been restored to the villages.

He added that security personnel have since taken over the area to calm tension among fleeing residents.

“The state commissioner of police also visited the area to ascertain the situation, and so far four persons were confirmed killed. Any want found wanting will face the wrath of the law,’’ he stated.
