More deaths occurred yesterday in Nigeria from COVID-19 even as the rate of infection seems to have doubled in the country in the last one week.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), reported six more deaths, bringing the number of the dead in Nigeria to 51.
The NCDC daily update of Wednesday showed that the indices have increased by almost 100 per cent between April 22 and Wednesday April 29.
As at 11.55pm April 29, exactly seven days after the number of new cases moved from 91 to 196, the number of total confirmed cases in the country jumped from 873 to 1728, the number of those who have died is now 51, from 28 it was last week.
However, the number of those who have recovered and discharged didn’t progress as exponentially as the rest, from 197 to 307.
In the Wednesday update of 196 new infections, Lagos State still maintained its lead with 87 new infection and Kano State followed with 24.
Gombe State came third in the list with 18 new cases while Kaduna State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) followed with 17 and 16 respectively.
Katsina State placed sixth on the list with 10 cases, while Sokoto and Edo States followed with eight and seven cases respectively.
The rest on the list was Borno with six cases, while Yobe, Ebonyi and Adamawa states recorded one case each.
