COVID-19: Trump Calls Buhari, Promises Him Ventilators

President Buhari also briefed the US president on what the Nigerian government had done to contain the spread of the virus.

President of the United States of Amer, Donald Trump, has promised to aid Nigeria with ventilators in the fight to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

Trump made the promise to President Muhammadu Buhari in a telephone conversation on Tuesday.

Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture, disclosed this during the media briefing of the Presidential Task Force on covid-19.

President Buhari, the minister said, took the opportunity to brief the US president on what the Nigerian government had done to contain the spread of the virus.

He said, “President Muhammadu Buhari today had a phone conversation with President Donald Trump, at the request of the American President.”

Mohammed said, “The conversation centred on Nigeria’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. President Buhari used the opportunity to brief the American President on the steps that Nigeria is taking to contain the spread of the disease.:

President Trump, Lai Mohammed added, “assured that the United States stand in solidarity with Nigeria in this difficult time and promised to send ventilators to support the country in its fight against the pandemic.”

The US President, the minister said, also extended his best regards to the people of Nigeria.
