FRSC Threatens To Impound Vehicles Flouting COVID-19 Order, Arrest Owners

The Federal Road Safety Corps, has announced that it will impound any vehicle that defies the presidential lockdown order and ensure the prosecution of their owners.

The FRSC boss, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, who announced this in a statement on Tuesday, said that he had asked his officers across the country to implement the Presidential directives holistically by impounding at sight any vehicle found violating the orders.

“Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi has ordered Commanding Officers across the country to step up ongoing enforcement on restrictions and social distance amongst vehicle occupants to step up ongoing enforcement on restrictions and social distancing among vehicle occupants,” the statement said.

Oyeyemi also emphasised that only vehicles and those accredited essential workers with means of identification number should be allowed.

The other vehicles seen contravening the lockdown order, he directed, “be impounded and their owners handed over to the Police for prosecution.”
