Katsina State Lifts Ban On Friday Prayer

The Katsina State Government has lifted the COVID-19 induced ban on Friday prayers in the state with immediate effect.

In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, the Katsina state governor, Aminu Masari, ordered that the ban be lifted.

Inuwa said this decision was reached following a meeting between the state government, religious leaders, traditional rulers and security agencies to review the measures taken by the government to curtail the spread of Coronavirus

Imams were advised to conduct Friday prayers but avoid prolonged sermons in order to discharge their followers within short period.

Katsina has recorded one death from COVID-19.

The victim was a medical doctor who returned from Lagos a few days ago but died of COVID-19 infection complications.
