COVID-19: Buhari Thanks Tinubu, Tuface, Others For Donations

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday expressed his gratitude to the growing list of donors to support the efforts of the Federal Government and some states to contain the raging coronavirus pandemic.

Among the latest donors as of yesterday were politicians like the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, corporate entities, missionaries, artistes and individuals, “who have consistently supported ongoing efforts to mitigate COVID-19 pandemic, which is ravaging the global economy, according to the Presidency.

The president noted the case of a group of oil companies that partnered the Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation to donate $30m, and appreciated the contributions of Tinubu, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr, Modupeola and Folorunsho Alakija of Famfa Oil, and Dr. Emeka Offor, “who joined a list of other public-spirited Nigerians in contributing health and educational facilities.”

According to a State House statement by his media aide, Mr. Garba Shehu, in Abuja, Buhari acknowledged other donations by Zenith Bank PLC, “which was committed to the public health care system; Keystone Bank; First Bank Plc; and the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche; and his wife, Dr. Becky Enenche, who also took to the streets to sensitise citizens on the dreaded virus.

“Others on the list were the Stallion Empowerment Initiative of the Stallion Group, and the entertainment industry, “particularly renowned musician, Innocent Idibia, Tuface.”

The President, who assured Nigerians that the funds would be properly utilised to check the effect of the COVID-19 and reposition the healthcare system, urged all intending donors to channel contributions through the Presidential Task Force for the Control of the Novel COVID-19.
