Lawan, Omo-Agege’s Ex-aides Now National Assembly Commission Members As Buhari Inaugurates Body

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday inaugurated new members of the National Assembly Service Commission.

Two of the commissioners were former personal aides to the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, and the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

The Chairman of the commission is Mr. Ahmed Kadi-Amshi, (Yobe, North East), who is a former Chief of Staff to Lawan.

The commissioner appointed from Delta State, Mr. Atonemeyorwi (South South), used to be Omo-Agege’s Director of Campaigns.

Other members the President inaugurated on Wednesday were; Babagana Modu (Borno, North East); (Abubakar Tutare (Taraba, North East; Hakeem Akamo, (Lagos, South West); Tunrayo Akintomide, (Ondo, South West); and Senator Julius Uche (Ebonyi, South East).

The list also had Bassey Etuk (Akwa-Ibom; South South); Bailyaminu Shinkafi (Zamfara, North West); Sani Said- Kazaure (Jigawa, North West); Auwalu Ohindase (Kogi, North Central); and Muazu Is’haq, (Nasarawa, North Central.)

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, and cabinet ministers witnessed the ceremonies, which took place shortly before the opening of the Federal Executive Council meeting.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha; the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Abba Kyari; the National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno (retd.); and the Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs. Folasade Yemi-Esan, also attended the session.

However, on entering the Council Chambers of the State House, Mungono first sat two seats away from Kyari.

Lawan and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, also witnessed the inauguration of the commissioners before exiting the venue ahead of the commencement of the FEC meeting between Buhari and his cabinet ministers.

The National Assembly Service Commission is the organ responsible for recruitment, promotion and discipline of members of Staff of the National Assembly.
