Aituaje Iruobe (Waje): A Voice Like No Other

Aituaje Iruobe, popularly known as Waje, one of the four coaches in the just concluded The Voice, Season 2, is a dexterous Nigerian singer with such an amazing vocal strength that thrills.

Waje is not the rain without clouds. From developing her musical talent in the church as a chorister to singing on campus and doing lots of free shows, singing at every given opportunity, she paid her dues to be reckoned as a professional musician in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

For Waje who sees music as her first love, starting off to pursue a career in music in 2007 was a decision without oscillation. Of course, her decision to pursue her dream in music has paid off very well.

Waje’s musical career took a soaring leap in 2008 when she featured in P-Square’s hit track, “Do Me”. While request for “Do Me” on Nigerian musical chart was yet to wane, her collaboration with M.I in “One Naira” became another hit track in popular demand.

Of course, her story encourages young aspiring musicians to pursue their dreams without fear or vacillation. In 2011, she won City People’s Entertainment Awards as the best rhythm and blues singer, the same year she won the Nigerian Entertainment Awards as the best female vocalist.
