The Story Behind Buhari’s Two Suvs

The interview frontpage

While the famous “wailers” and the “hailers” went back and forth over whether or not President Muhammadu Buhari took $300, 000 in addition to the two SUVs dispatched to him after Boko Haram attacked him in Kaduna, we got some insight into how the SUV story came about in the first place. An inside source told us that before the attack – shortly after Buhari criticised the terrorists – retired Colonel Umar Dangiwa approached former President Goodluck Jonathan and advised him to act quickly and shore up security around Buhari. Jonathan, being Jonathan, listened sympathetically and soon moved on. Then, the attack happened. Dangiwa’s words flooded the mind of the former president, washing up a sense of panic and guilt. He immediately called former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki and asked him to “do the needful”; that is, provide the vehicles. Sources disclosed that not only the Presidency, but also at least two other northern governors, including RabiuKwankwaso, took similar motorised steps.
